If you’ve been vegan for any length of time, you’ll very likely be well-acquainted with being called a hypocrite. Whether it’s about crop deaths, soy, or migratory beekeeping, attempting to “catch out” vegans has become a favorite pastime of many meat-eaters.

But nobody loves calling out vegans quite like former daytime TV host Piers Morgan. Google “Piers Morgan vegan hypocrite,” and you’ll be greeted by a whole host of clips of him shouting at vegans, eating Big Macs in front of vegans, and allegedly “destroying” them with his arsenal of anti-vegan arguments.

One argument that pops up time and time again is that environmentally-minded vegans are hypocrites for eating imported vegetables. When told by an Animal Rising activist during an interview that farming and fishing was a leading cause of the climate crisis, Morgan responded with the words: “Do you know what else is a leading cause of the climate crisis? Planes that carry vast amounts of your avocados and your almonds from California and fly them thousands of miles to your table here in your vegan cafes. And they also go in trucks, which is an environmental hazard too.” He went on to accuse her of “destroying the planet,” adding “and yet you have the brass neck to sit here in between munching your almonds and your avocados and preach to me about how virtuous you are about not killing animals and saving the planet.”
