In the UK, around 90% of pigs are killed using CO2 gas chambers. Animals are lowered into high concentrations of carbon dioxide where many panic, gasp for air, and struggle before losing consciousness. Despite growing concern from vets, scientists, and animal welfare advocates, the practice is still widely used across the industry.
Together with Project Slingshot, we’re calling for an end to CO2 gas chambers for pigs and urging the UK government to ban the practice.
